Niharika is an English teacher in a reputed private school in Gurgaon. Teaching is her passion, and she enjoys being with children as it gives her a fresh and enthusiastic outlook on everything. She has always been an avid reader, right from the age of five. Niharika describes herself as a bit of a dreamer, “I always had the most vivid imagination and used to exasperate my family, when as a child, they couldn’t tell if I was recounting actual events or something that I had cooked up”. She decided to put her wild imagination to some productive use and wrote her first novel. Being a teacher means you get an extended break during the long and hot summers in Gurgaon, this was the ideal time to work on her novel during the school summer break. “Once I started writing, the ideas just flowed in, it was almost as the book wrote itself, using me as the medium”, she laughs. Niharika has been living in Gurgaon for the past eighteen years. She is married with two children. She says a lot of her inspiration for the characters of Nick and Beth has come from her own two children. Niharika is an animal enthusiast and always goes out of her way to help out strays in her locality.
